Even though the city has been booming with development lately, most locals still have their hearts down at the beach, catching a good surf or chilling in the sand. No matter what you prefer, Perth offers a unique blend of sophisticated urban life, open-minded culture, stunning blue skies and good outdoor activities.

Location and Geography

Perth is the capital and largest city of Western Australia, nestled right where the broad Swan River meets the Indian Ocean. The city’s surrounding beaches and coastline sprawl across 40 kilometres along Australia’s western edge. The Greater Perth area is home to around 2 million people. Huge green areas like King’s Park by the riverside and Mt. Eliza and its Botanical Gardens offer stunning views across the city. Over the years, Perth has grown and annexed the creative port town of Fremantle. But with its lively arts and food scene and a moving maritime past, this former working-class hub still manages keep its distinct bohemian character alive.
